Funeral Services for Mrs. Latane P. Deason will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 2pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with Dr. Rev. Fred Andrea officiating. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren. Graveside services and interment will follow at approx. 3:45pm at Barnwell County Memory Gardens, Barnwell. Memorial donations may be made to either Aiken?s First Baptist Church or the First Baptist Church of Barnwell. Mrs. Deason, 90, of Aiken, died Thursday December 6, 2007 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A daughter of the late C.R & Zenobia Morris Peeples, she was born in Bamberg County and had lived in Walterboro, Beaufort, Charleston, St. Matthews and New York and Barnwell before moving to Aiken in 1984. She was a graduate of Barnwell High School and attended the University of Columbia. While living in Barnwell, she was active with children of all ages, teaching and playing piano for Sunday school, kindergarten and Bible School. She was a delegate to the National Rural Letter Carriers Association while her husband was a mail carrier in Barnwell. She was also very active in the hospital auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She had been a member at Aiken?s First Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the senior choir. She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert Augustus Deason, Jr., a son; John P. Deason, a daughter; Carol Noel Rutherford, both of Columbia, SC and a brother; James Peeples, Barnwell, SC. Mrs. Deason is survived by two sons; Bobby Dorothy Deason, Dunedin, FL and Morris Pam Deason, Aiken, a sister; Claudette Critz, Myrtle Beach, SC, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and four great, great, great grandchildren.
