Funeral services for Mr. Willie C. Franklin will be held Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 3 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC, with Pastor Larry Gregory officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Blohm, Tommy Robinson, Bobby Robinson, John Boatwright, Jack Blohm, and Richard Johnson. Interment will follow in the St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church Cemetery, Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 20, 2003 from 2 until service time at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC. Mr. Franklin, 76, of Aiken, SC, husband of the late Betty Scott Franklin and the late Carole Robinson Franklin, died Thursday, afternoon, December 18, 2003. Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, he was a son of the late Judson and Daisy Harmon Franklin. A United States Navy Veteran, he proudly served his country during World War II. Following his service to his country he returned home to run the family business Franklin Cleaners, Franklin Apartments and had also worked with Graniteville Company. He was Baptist and was a wildlife conversationalist. A sister, Betty Jane Taylor, Aiken, SC; Step-sons, Bobby and Tommy Robinson, both of Aiken, SC; step-daughter, Sissy Mulinax, Augusta, GA; nieces, Kandy Boatwright, Aiken, SC and Shirley Yon, Rochester, NY; and nephews, Michael Blohm, Aiken, SC and Jack Blohm, Greenwood, SC; survive The family has requested that memorials in memory of Mr. Franklin be made to the South Carolina Wildlife Conservation Fund, P.O. Box 167, Columbia, SC 29202 or the Parkinson?s Foundation, 1501 N.W. Ninth Ave., Miami, FL 33136.
