A Requiem Mass for Mr. Robert Salvatore Granato, will be celebrated at 11am on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at St. Mary help of Christians Catholic Church under the care of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER.
Mr. Granato, 80, of Aiken, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013 at his residence following an illness. A son of the late Gaetano & Vincenza Vitucci Granato, he was born in Brooklyn, NY and had lived in Aiken since 2007. Before moving to Aiken, the family lived in Staten Island for 38 years.
An US Army Veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Granato retired from the City of NY Police Department. Mr. Granato formerly owned his own auto repair service. He loved riding his motorcycle and bowled on the Cedar Creek Bowling League. Mr. Granato was very artistic and he loved reading history and military. He was a sports enthusiast and once played in Shea Stadium as a member of the NY City Police Athletic Team against the NY Mets in a charity event.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Menillo Granato of Aiken; sons, Robert Granato (Theresa) of Staten Island, NY, and Anthony Granato (Carla) of Macungie, PA; three grandchildren, Toniann, Francesca & Anthony Granato.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Hospice.
