A Celebration of Life Service for Martin James Darby, Jr. will be held Saturday, February 18th at 10:00AM at Cedar Creek Church, 3001 Banks Mill Road, performed by Pastor Richard Swift. Marty, age 67, died Tuesday morning, February 14, 2006, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Augusta, GA. Born in Stamford, CT, he was the son of the late Martin James and Mary Martin Darby. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and the National Guard. Marty lived in Wilton, CT until he retired to Aiken in 1997 with his wife, Diny, where they made Cedar Creek their new home. He was an avid golfer and attended Cedar Creek Church. He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Everdina Talen Darby, son Edward Martin Darby, son James Martin Darby, daughter Karen Ann Darby, daughter Stephanie Darby Renk and son-in-law Mark Renk, sister Patricia Kolbay and brother-in-law Steven Kolbay, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family has requested that memorials be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, South Carolina Chapter, 1247 Lake Murray Blvd, Irmo, SC 29063.
