AIKEN, SC- William David Duncan passed away on April 10, 2016. He was born on December 9, 1955 in Abilene, Texas to the late Major Earl L. Duncan and Helen Free Duncan.
He was a graduate of Aiken High School and the University of South Carolina Aiken. He lived life his own way. He liked to laugh. He was a meticulous researcher and an historian of the South, Aiken County, and his family. He had an unmatched knowledge of the Loman lynching. Bill was a tennis player, gardener, golfer, and a futbol fan.
He is survived by his brothers, John E. Duncan of Columbia, South Carolina, Richard L. Duncan of Knoxville, Tennessee, his beloved niece and nephews, Ariel A. Duncan, David E. Duncan, John Valderrama Duncan, and his sisters-in-law, Christine M. Duncan and Diana V. Duncan. He was a beloved uncle. He is mourned by the Valderrama family of Bogota, Colombia and his lifelong friend Steve Walls. No one ever had a better brother, uncle, brother-in-law, or friend.
Burial services will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
