Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel George Newton will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 11am at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken, with Rev. John Zimmermann officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 8, 2007 from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association, 1003 Hammond Rd, Aiken, SC, 29803. Mrs. Newton, 85, of Aiken, died Monday, August 6, 2007 at her residence. Born in Aiken, she was the daughter of the late Broadus and Maggie Johnson George. She was a lifelong resident of Aiken. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. She was a special mom and loved her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John O. Newton, Sr., brother, Ralph George. She is survived by her sons, John O. Patricia Newton, Jr., Aiken, Ralph G. Dana Newton, Duluth, GA, daughters, Patricia Newton Stephen Thomason, Summerville, SC, Dianne Newton Erwin Loriaux, Ripon, CA, Katherine Newton James Newton, Augusta, GA, Susan Newton Johnnie Bates, Aiken, sister-in-law, Kathleen George, twelve grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
