Funeral services for Mr. Homer Saye "HS" Timmons, Jr. will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 10am at chapel of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with Dr. George Howle officiating. Interment will take place later that day at 3pm at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, SC. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be directed to St. John United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St. SW, Aiken, SC 29801.
Mr. Timmons, 94, of Aiken, died Friday, May 20, 2011 at Azalea Woods Nursing Home.
A son of the late Homer Saye Timmons, Sr. and Annie Sarah Crump Timmons, he was born in Guymon, OK and moved to Aiken over 55 years ago when he took a position with DuPont at The Savannah River Site, where he worked until retiring in the early 1980's. Homer served in the U S Army during WW II and a member of St. John UMC in Aiken for 56 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Order of The Eastern Star.
He is survived by his wife, Savannah Williams Timmons, Aiken; a daughter, Teresa George C. John, Houston, TX; two sisters, Mary Frances Brown, Rock Port, TX and Eloise Timmons, Boulder, CO; a grandson, David C. John, New York, NY; a sister and brother in law, Chet & Dot Williams, Anderson, SC and a sister and brother in law, Issie and Karl Kelly, Greer, SC. He is also survived by a special niece, Helen Wayne Simmons, San Antonio, TX and several other nieces and nephews.
