Obituary of Lois McGarvey Holmes

Funeral services for Mrs. Lois M. Holmes will be held Sunday, March 13, 2005 at 3 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 PM until the time of service. Mrs. Holmes, 81, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Thursday, afternoon, March 10, 2005 at Palms of Pasadena Hospice, St. Petersburg, FL following a brief illness. Born in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of Norman and Doris Frommer, she had been a Licensed Practical Nurse at Aiken County Hospital from 1951 until 1965 and was a former member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, Aiken. Mrs. Holmes had been a resident of St. Petersburg, FL since 1990. Prior to relocating to St. Petersburg, FL she had been a resident of Colorado Springs, CO where she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-nine years, Franklin T. Holmes, sons, Wayne Holmes, Columbia, SC, Larry Stewart, Aiken, SC, Van Holmes, Chapin, SC and Mike Stewart, Savannah, GA; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Lois will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends at Harbor Lights in St. Pete. Memorials may be made to Palms of Pasadena Hospice, 1501 Pasadena Ave., S, St. Petersburg, FL 33707
