Funeral services for Pansy Burgess Zimmerman, 92, of Aiken, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Memorial Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Charles Jenkins. Burial will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Buddy Wessinger, Steve Brown, Bill Smith, Ronnie Wade, Bradley Burgess, Rev. Burt Pardue and Ritchie Byrd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Zimmerman, loving wife of William, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014. Born in Aiken, she was a daughter of the late Jessie and Lettie Boatwright Burgess. She was a lifetime area resident and a member of Memorial Baptist Church, where she supported and led the GA's and the WMU. She was also the church secretary for several years, worked for Graniteville Company, City of Aiken, Commission for the Blind and retired from Aiken Regional Medical Centers. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Bertie Wessinger and Trannie Brown and a brother, J.V. "Bill" Burgess. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, William A. "Bill" Zimmerman of Aiken, whom she met at the USO Club during World War II, which is now George Funeral Home. She is also survived by sisters, Myrtle Burgess Burnette of Aiken, Alice Burgess Miller of Chapin and Hazel Burgess Pardue of Aiken; a brother, Edward "Ed" Burgess (Stephanie) of Gilbert and a host of nieces and nephews.
