Ed was a career truck driver for Chem Nuclear, AirCo, BOC Gases and Linde. He was recently a Fleet Safety Trainer. He had a real passion for keeping the big trucks on the road safe and teaching new and veteran drivers how to stay safe. He won first place at the BOC Aiken Distribution Rodeo in 2001. He was in the National Safety Council Three Million Mile Club. He is listed in the Driver Hall of Fame. He was recognized several times by the National Private Truck Council and Bridgestone/Firestone for his outstanding career and contributions to highway safety.
He was a very active member of First Christian Church in Aiken since 1978. He served as a deacon, temporary pastor and most recently as an elder. Ed was a US Air Force Veteran, serving during the Viet Nam War.
He loved his family dearly and loved to stay busy working around the house. He always had a project going on! He loved to cook and also eat! In his spare time he loved tinkering with all of his computers in his home office. He had his own personal library of mystery novels and always loved reading a good book.
The family would like to thank Trinity Hospice for their compassion and excellent care, notably, Bill and Ruth. A special thanks to Keith and Gail Ussery for their dedication and love. We couldn?t have done it without you both.
