AIKEN, SC—Earle R. Moore, age 75, entered into rest Monday, August 28, 2017 at Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, GA, following a brief illness. Earle was born February 14, 1942 in Riverside, NJ to the late Richard and Bertha Moore. Earle was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam and aboard the U.S.S. Independence. After his time in the military, Earle worked for the Burlington Township Police Department for 27 years, retiring as a Lieutenant. Additionally, Earle was proud to have worked at Page Funeral Home in Burlington Township, NJ for twenty years and at George Funeral Home in Aiken, SC since 2008. He was a member of the Burlington City F.O.P, Lodge 63, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 84, Retired Police and Fireman's Assn. Lodge #10, the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. He was an active member of The Aiken Senior Men's Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1817, Burlington, NJ, and the American Legion. He enjoyed calling bingo and volunteered at the local Veteran Affairs office where he made home visits. Earle was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken, SC where he served as a Lector and Eucharist minister. Earle was a kind loving husband, father and "poppy." He was a quiet, honest man who loved God, his Country, a good cigar, a glass of Jack Daniels, a good "Lobstah" and his beloved Maine. In addition to his parents, Earle was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Moore and a step-son, William J. McGee Jr. He is survived by Diana M. Moore, his beloved wife of 33 years; two sons, Michael Moore and David Moore (Jackie); two step-daughters, Colleen Johnson and Cynthia Epps (Mark); eight grandchildren, Matthew Epps, Josie Epps, Amanda Johnson, Bethany Johnson, Jacob McGee, Ryan McGee, Daniel Moore, and Paul Moore. A prayer service will be held this Wednesday evening at 6:15 PM at George Funeral Home with visitation following until 8:00 PM. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the old historic St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Park Ave., with the Very Rev. Father Gregory Wilson as celebrant. Final prayers and commendation will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mt Holly, NJ at a later date.
