A funeral mass for Mrs. Betty Cordell will be celebrated at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church at 11am on Saturday, July 24. 2010. The family will receive friends after the service in Smith Hall. Interment will be private. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW is assisting the family. Mrs. Cordell, 87, of Aiken died Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Trinity on Laurens, Aiken. Born in Towanda, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Zelma Acla Hoover. She lived in Largo, FL, and Pittsburgh, PA before moving to Aiken in 2003. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and a retired restaurant office manager. Betty was a former member of the Houndslake Country Club, and Tides Country Club. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John "Bud" T. Cordell. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Miller, Aiken; son, Thomas Erin Cordell, Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Marie Barry, Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Matthew Heather Cordell, and Jeffrey Cordell.
