Funeral services for Rev. Gerald Rodgerswill be held Sunday, January 29, 2006 at 3 PM at New Beginning Congregational Holiness Church, Aiken, SC, with Revs. James Hunnicutt and Lonnie Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Rodgers will be placed in the church at 2 PM Sunday. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 28, 2006 from 6 until 8 PM at George Funeral Home, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC. Rev. Rodgers, 69, of Aiken, SC, died Thursday, evening, January 26, 2006 at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center, Aiken, SC. Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, he was a son of the late Theodore R. and Cola Jackson Rodgers. He was a former Auto Mechanic and had pastored several churches in the area. Rev. Rodgers was a charter member of Friendship Holiness Church, now New Beginning Congregational Holiness Church. He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Jordan, Wayne Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Margaret Starling, Aiken, SC; grandchildren, Wayne Jordan, Emily Jordan, Amy Jordan, and Melissa Jordan Gauthier, Lewis all of Myrtle Beach, SC; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Amber Gauthier, both of Myrtle Beach, SC; nephew, Andrew Lewis, Jr., Aiken, SC; great-nephew, Andrew Lewis, III, Aiken, SC; great-niece, Heather Hammonds, Aiken, SC; and great-great-nieces, Caroline Lewis and Whitney, Sidney, and Kayla Hammonds, all of Aiken, SC. The family has requested that memorials be made to New Beginning Congregational Holiness Church, 2464 Columbia Highway North, Aiken, SC 29805.
