I first met George Gibson in 1981 when we meet with 25 other officers to form the Augusta Chapter of the Military Orders of the World Wars MOWW. He was a supporter during my endeavers in the MOWW and encouraged me to move up in the organization. I considered him a friend. I will truely miss him. Now, as Commander of Region V South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina, a donation in George's honor is being made to the OGA Mastroianni, Augusta Chapter MOWW Endowment Fund in behalf of Region V. This fund help support the Youth Leadership Conferences, something George was a stong supporter of; the patriotic education of our youth.

I was extremely saddened to learn of Colonel Gibson's passing. I will always remember his passion for his beautiful flowers, his smooshy faced Boxer dogs, but most importantly, his smile! I always looked forward to our mailbox chats...he NEVER forgot to ask how we were all doing. He was a kind man, wonderful neighbor and genuine soul and I know will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with your family during this difficult time.

I was very saddened to hear that Uncle Gib had passed away. Some of my fondest memories growing up was the time i was fortunate enough to spend with him and Aunt Fran at my grandmothers house and at their house in Aiken. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his entire family

Mr. George Gibson was truly one of the very best people one could hope to meet. I had known him for over 27 years and that was all through my formative years, many a holiday especially Halloween was spent next door at his house with a smile and a handshake he was there. In many ways he was like my own grandfather. I know death is a spiritual process so may he know he will always be loved and appreciated.

George was a Military Order of World Wars Companion who will be missed very much. He led the Augusta Chapter as Commander in 1985-1986. George epitomized what a Marine Corps Officer is all about. He was a kind considerate person we recognized with a Silver Patrick Henry medal for his patriotic services as Companion of the Order. Our fond of memory of him will linger. May his soul in the peace of the Lord.

I first met George about 18 years ago when I joined the Knights of Columbus. George was full of energy, care and concern for every individual he met. I was privileged to be a fellow knight. He provided me great counsel and demonstrated honor and respect.
