A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Catherine ?Kitty? Jacober on Thursday February 12th at 11:30am at St. Mary Help of Christians Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bryan Joseph Houle, David Thomas Houle, Joseph Chester Joswig, James Herndon, William Cunningham and Gerry Cooper. The visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken. Time for the Vigil service will be announced. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Mary Help of Christians School 118 York St. SE Aiken, SC 29801. Mrs. Jacober, 84, of Aiken, died Friday, February 6, 2004 at her residence. Born in Norfolk, VA, she was the daughter of the late James & Theresa McNamara Burrow. Before moving to Aiken in 1953, she had lived in Buffalo, NY. She attended Trinity College in Washington, DC and prior to World War II; she had been the personal stenographer/transcriber for J. Edgar Hoover at the FBI. Upon coming to Aiken, she taught math for 25 years at St. Mary?s School in Aiken and served as church organist for the children?s choir until her retirement in the late 1970?s. Mrs. Jacober was predeceased by a daughter, Margaret Papile, a grand son, Michael Jacober and a brother, James Burrow. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William J. Jacober, Sr., Aiken, a son; William J. Jacober, Jr., Summerville, SC, two daughters; Theresa Catherine Houle, Downingtown, PA and Mary Elizabeth Joswig, Oceanside, CA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
