Trefter L. ?Toby? Thomas Funeral services for Mr. Trefter L. ?Toby? Thomas will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at 3 PM from the graveside in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville, SC. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the clubhouse of Kalmia Landing. Mr. Thomas, 87, of Aiken, SC, died Sunday, night, May 19, 2002 at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center, Aiken, SC. Born in Spartanburg, SC, a son of the late Trefter Oliver Thomas and the late Maud Bell Thomas, he had lived in Midlothian, VA, for twenty-five years before coming to Aiken, SC, in 1989. He was a United States Airforce Veteran of World War II, having retired with the rank of Major after twenty-three and one half years of service. Following his military career, he was with the Railroad Police at Southern Rail Road and also spent twenty-five years with R.L. Polk in Richmond, VA, where he was an Assistant District Sales Manager. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and enjoyed traveling in the motor home with his wife, Sunny. Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years, Esther ?Sunny? Thomas, Aiken, SC; son, Berkeley Ray Thomas, Aiken, SC; daughter, Terry Thomas Ready, Aiken, SC; granddaughter, Lauren Adair Flynt, Aiken, SC; and sister, Frances T. Culbreth, Spartanburg, SC.
