Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Tessa M. Dean will be celebrated Thursday, March 18, 2004 at 11 AM at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken, SC, with the Reverend James L. LeBlanc celebrant. Interment will follow at a later date in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Adams, MN. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 PM Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC. Mrs. Dean, 90, of Aiken, SC, wife of Lt. Col. William W. Dean, Jr., U.S. Army, Ret., died Monday, morning, March 15, 2004 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Born in London, England, a daughter of the late Major Arthur and Kathleen Wheeler Bouchier, she married Lt.Col. William W. Dean, Jr., on October 25, 1944 in Glaslow, Scotland. Prior to her marriage, she was a professional ice skater performing throughout Europe. During World War II, she was employed by the British Transport Service. After coming to the United States she worked for the American Red Cross. When she came to Aiken she ran Deanwood Riding Stables, where she gave riding lessons and put on large horse shows. In addition to her husband, Lt. Col. William W. Dean, Jr., she is survived by many nieces and nephews in British Columbia, Canada. A son, Michael, preceded her in death in 1964.
