AIKEN, SC - Joseph Michael Proietti, age 93, entered into rest peacefully at his home on Friday, November 25, 2016. Mr. Proietti was born September 3, 1923 in Solvay, New York to the late Fernando and Lucia Proietti. He proudly served his country in the US Army and was a veteran of WWII. He was a graduate of Syracuse University and retired from the Department of Energy as a Chemical Engineer. Mr. Proietti was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his parents, Mr. Proietti was preceded in death by his first wife, Leona Butler Proietti; his second wife, Rose Hillard Proietti; a son, Joseph Proietti; and a brother, Fred Proietti. He is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Browder and Elizabeth Thomas (Tom), all of Aiken, SC; a son, Richard Proietti (Nancy), Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Kristen Morris (Ley), Columbia, SC and Emily Poole (Ashley), Graniteville, SC; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Peyton Poole, Graniteville, SC; and a sister Judith Pangborn, Syracuse, NY. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the old historic St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church corner of Park & York St. Rev. Renaurd West as celebrant.
