Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Hunter Featherstone will take place on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 2pm at the chapel of George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with Pastor Stan Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1pm until the time of the service. Mrs. Featherstone, 82, of Windsor, died Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at her daughter's residence. A daughter of the late William Issac and Mabel Bell Hunter, she was born in Lancaster County and had lived in Ft. Lawn, SC before moving to Aiken in 1966. Before retiring in 1994, she had worked for 28 years at Owens-Corning and had been shop steward for the Teamsters local #86. She was very active at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of fifty four years, Ralph Featherstone; her seven brothers and sisters; a daughter, Sybil Thomas and a grandson, Keith McHargue. She is survived by her son, William "Billy" and Gayle Featherstone, Louisville, KY; three daughters, Diane and Carliss McHargue, Aiken, Barbara and Don McGee and Brenda & Neal Boatwright, Windsor and a son in law, Glen Thomas, Aiken. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and her precious cat, Silver Bell The family wishes to thank Palmetto Ambulance Service, Trinity Hospice and Ms. Shirley Workman for the care they gave Miss Doris.
