Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Olive Edna Medlock will be celebrated Monday, June 7, 2004 at 10 AM at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken, South Carolina. Interment will follow in Graniteville cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held Sunday, June 6, 2004 at 5 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW in Aiken. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the wake service until 7 PM Sunday.
Mrs. Medlock, 89, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, died Thursday night June 3, 2004 at her home.
She was born in Capital Heights, Maryland to Edna Mineburg Litz and Roy Courtney Litz. Following her father's early death, she and two brothers were adopted by a stepfather, Vete Clements.
After her husband's 30-year career in the US Navy and a long residence in San Diego, California, the couple moved to Aiken in 1974. Mrs. Medlock was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and a member of both the St. Mary's Women's Club and the Senior Group.
In addition to her spouse of 72 years, Frank Medlock, she leaves a daughter, Dolores Ann Medlock, and her husband, John Graham of Langley, Washington; a son, Robert and his wife, Theresa Medlock of Indianapolis, Indiana; a sister, Marie Lomax of Edgewater, Maryland; a brother, Joseph Clements of Oceanside, Maryland; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family has requested that memorials in memory of Mrs. Medlock be made to A.C.T.S. 340 Park Ave. SW, Aiken, SC 29801.
