Funeral services for Lisa Carol Whitman, 44, of Aiken, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Salvation Army. Officiating will be Capt. David Repass, Capt. Angela Repass and Maj. Jerry Lyles. Burial will follow in Graniteville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jamie Crawford, Cliford Crawford, Robbie Foster, Ricky Foster, Larry Gregory, Jr., and Kevin Gregory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, Aiken. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, PO Box 439, Aiken, SC 29801 or to the Lupus Foundation of America, 2000 L Street, N.W., Suite 401, Washington, D.C., 20036.
Mrs. Whitman passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013. Born in Aiken, she was a daughter of the late Johnny Lee & Louise Skipper Funderburk. She was a lifetime resident of Aiken and a member of the Salvation Army, Aiken Corps. Lisa was also owner and operator of L&L Recovery and Whitmans Towing & Auto. She was MVP of the South Aiken Softball Team from 1983-1986, a softball coach and past director of New Ellenton Youth Sports Softball League. Lisa was an avid beach and lake lover and enjoyed fishing, auto racing and sports of all kinds. She was also a huge Clemson Tiger and Atlanta Braves fan.
Surviving are her loving husband, Darryl Whitman of the home; nieces/goddaughters, Bridgette Lee Funderburk of Atlanta and Laura Lee Funerburk of Aiken; nephew/godson, Jason Carlisle of Aiken; brothers, Joseph "Joe" Funderburk and David Funderburk both of Aiken; and her mother-in-law, Peggy L. Whitman of Aiken.
