Graveside services for Mrs. Edna Abney Thomas will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at 11 AM in Aiken Memorial Gardens, Aiken, SC, with Rev. Eugene Mullikin officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Mrs. Thomas, 81, of Greensboro, NC and formerly of Aiken, SC, died Sunday, afternoon, August 7, 2005 at Moses Cone Hospital. Born in Statesboro, GA, a daughter of the late John Willie and Anna Ray Dominick Calk, she had lived in Aiken, SC, for most of her life where she was a member of St. John?s United Methodist Church and retired from E.I. Dupont. She had been a resident of Greensboro, NC since 2000. She is survived by a daughter, Gail Lewis and her husband Bill, Greensboro, NC; son, David Abney and his wife Kathy, Aiken SC; grandchildren, Luke and Jessie Abney, Aiken, SC, and Ashton and Will Lewis, Greensboro, NC; and a brother, J.C. Calk. She was loved and will be missed by all. Special thanks to Mr. David Hill and Dr. Frank Webster of Madison, NC, for all their help and kindness and to everyone at NW Greensboro Kidney Center for their gratitude.
