Lorraine Russell Johnt, 94, widow of Woodrow Wilson Johnt passed away peacefully at home in Aiken, SC on Monday, September 29, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 10, 1919 in Buffalo, New York, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Lillian Russell. Lorraine retired from DuPont at SRS and was an active member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church. Lorraine's life was filled with love and laughter. She was an avid golfer, bowler and bridge player. She loved the beach; enjoyed traveling, reading, entertaining and capturing memories with photographs. A generous woman, devoted to her family, friends and beliefs, Lorraine lived her life as if every day was a blessing.
Survivors include sons: Charles R. Johnt and wife Mary Helen, James W. Johnt and wife Marlene; grandchildren: James W. Johnt, Jr., Sharon K. Lumpkin, Brett Johnt and wife Janice, Kristin Johnt Payne and husband Chris, Karen Johnt and Corey Johnt; great-grandchildren: Rachel Lumpkin, Dylan Johnt, Jodi Lumpkin, Shey, Lily and Gemma Payne. Lorraine had an extended family of loved ones including Earlene Faircloth and her family.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Aiken Memorial Gardens, on Hwy 19 North. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm Saturday, prior to the service at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, 211 Park Ave., SW., Aiken, SC.
