Memorial services for Mr. Charles "Red" Lee Williams will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 2pm at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev Taylor Wells officiating. Interment will be private in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Men's Sunday School Class and the Martin Robinson Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday, December 26, 2008 at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken. Memorial contributions may be directed to Shiloh Baptist Church Lottie Moon Fund, 3925 Shiloh Church Rd, Aiken, SC, 29805. Mr. Williams, 83, of Aiken, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Born in Star, NC, he was the son of the late George and Thelma Jordan Williams. He moved to Aiken in 1953 from Asheboro, NC. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, the Senior Men's Sunday School Class, and the Senior Joy Group. Red loved gardening, bird watching and listening to music. He served our country during World War II and the Korean Conflict in the Merchant Marines. He was a retired electrician from DuPont Savannah River Site with eighteen years of service. He is survived by his wife of fifty eight years, Sarah Rush Williams, daughters, Debbie Jim Brown, Aiken; Teri Mendel Mitchum, Mt. Pleasant, SC ; sisters, Rochelle Jim Starkey, West Columbia, SC; Clara Sue Alexander, Seagrove, NC; grandchildren, Allison Greg Warren, Brandon Driggers, Sarah Mitchum, step-grandchildren, Merin Mitchum, and Ainsley Mitchum.
