Mr. Jodie Ferrel Smith, 94, resident of Carriage Hills for 3 years, husband of the late Evelyn Salter Smith, died Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Funeral services will be held 2PM, Friday, September 12, 2003 at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave. SW, with Rev. Sheree Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Smith, Wayne Smith, Clyde Willing Nolan Salter, Norris Scott, and Luke Quarrels. Honorary pallbearers will be Edgar Willing Henry Willing, George Gaskin, Grover O. Gaskin, and Dr. William Salter. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Aiken Memorial Gardens. Mr. Smith was the son of the late Charles and Cora Koon Smith and a native of Williamston, SC. He moved to Aiken at age six and lived the remainder of his life here. Jodie was a truck driver for 43 years and retired from Hemingway Trucking. He was a member of Aiken?s First Baptist Church and the Williamson Sunday School Class. Mr. Smith was a known as a very Loving and Generous man. Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Ferrel Allen Gay Smith, Aiken, daughter and son in law Sandra Smith Tom Thomas, Aiken, brother, Ray Smith, Aiken, grandchildren, Cindy Thomas Cathcart, Stacy Thomas Boyd, both of Columbia, Steven Allen Smith and Tammy Smith Plunkett, both of Aiken, and thirteen great grandchildren.
