Charles H Barney posted a condolence

My profound sympathies go out to you over the passing away of Donald W. Barclay, Sr. It is obvious he was a fine man and soldier. I came to know of your loss through Military Rails Online. My late father, Charles H Barney was also a member of the 752nd Railway Operating Batallion. Their tours of duty in Europe are, at times, identical. My father would be 97 years old. It is more than likely they knew one another. They were indeed, representatives of The Greatest Generation, the likes of which we will never see again. I am truly sorry for your loss.

I did not hear about pops until almost the day of his funeral. My condolences to the rest of the family who were fortunate to know him better than I did. I cherish the memories of being a little guy sitting on his lap near the tv.
I found it interesting we were both Combat Engineers.
Best, Ray

I'd like share my sympathy with all of my cousins of the Barclay family. It's been quite a while since I've seen "Big Don" but I will always have fond and humerous memories of him. For those of you who have had the pleasure of attending the old hunting camp in Tionesta with Don, no more needs to be said. How about that Barclay and McDade show? Did I mention that Don snored??? Don, may the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand. Love ya all.
Blessings,
GSQ III

We were so saddened to learn of the death of your father. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. We always enjoyed having your parents as neighbors when we lived on 4th St. It was my pleasure to have worked with both Cathy and Marnee at the Times. You have our deepest sympathy and pray you will find comfort in the fond memories you have.

Don was a good friend, a true brother in Christ. I have kept most of the letters he wrote to me after moving to Aiken. They reviewed a lot of Barclay history. We live in Barclay Hill Estates, a condominium community in Brighton Twp. Sincere sympathy, in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There was never a trip to Beaver in 30+ years that didn't involve my stopping at Lorcy and Don's before going home to my parents' place. I loved being regaled with tales of horseback hunting in western snow! From these memories as a quasi-adult way back to childhood memories of hunting camp beard scratches, Big Don figures significantly. I send my love to my dear Barclay cousins, and thank the Aiken gang for keeping him comfy in his final years.
Much love,
Judy
