Bernadine M. Wesner, 87, died on September 28, 2007 at Eden Gardens Care Center, Aiken, SC. Visitation and a memorial service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken. Mrs. Wesner was born and raised in Winneconne, Wisconsin. She moved with her family to the southeast when she was forty. In 1995, she moved to Aiken to be closer to her daughter. While in Aiken, Bernie became involved within the community as a volunteer for Helping Hands and Hitchcock Healthcare. She also participated in Newcomers and Pairs & Spares. She was a member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church.
When she was raising her family in Wisconsin, Bernie worked in the local hardware store that her husband co-owned. Bernie retired from Macy's Fine Jewelry Department in Atlanta. During her tenure, she was their top diamond salesperson.
Bernie will be remembered for her tenacity, her love for her family and friends, the ability to make people feel at ease in her home, and her abundant spirit. She raised two children to be independent, self-assured, and successful in their lives. By example she showed Tom and Jeri that being vulnerable to people they cared about was a good thing.
Mrs. Wesner was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Wesner, her son, Thomas R. Wesner, and her sister, Helen Hewitt. She is survived by her daughter, Jeryl Ann Wesner of Aiken; Brothers Robert Ryf and John Ryf of Winneconne, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law Rosemary Ryf of Winneconne, Wisconsin and Pearl Muscavitch of Texas; brothers-in-law Allan Wesner of Wausau, Wisconsin and Martin Muscavitch of Texas; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
