Funeral services for Deamont "Darrell" Campbell will be held today at 1pm at Apostolic Lighthouse Church with Rev. James Irick officiating. Interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW, Aiken is assisting the family.
Mr. Campbell, 77, of Montmorenci, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A son of the late John Wesley Campbell and Cora Mullinax Campbell, he was born in Bessemer City, NC, grew up in Chester, SC and had lived in the Atlanta, GA area before moving to Aiken County in 1961. He retired in 1995 as a millwright for the Graniteville Plant, where he had worked for close to thirty years. Darrell was a member of His Way Baptist Church and was described as a man who loved the Lord, was full of laughter, a loving father and simply a hard working, honest man.
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his wife, Margaret and a son, Danny.
Darrell is survived by his companion, Ms. Tommie Hoff, Montmorenci, seven children, Michael Campbell, Atlanta, GA, Wanda Proctor, Aiken, Gail Hankinson, Aiken, Glenn Campbell, Montmorenci, Casey Campbell, North Augusta, Dana Campbell Good, Aiken and Bridget Campbell, Aiken; a brother, Jerry Campbell, Chester, SC and a sister, Mozzell Clark, Chester, SC. He was also survived by 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
