Funeral services for Mr. Arthur Miller ?Art? Procter will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 11 AM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC with Rev. Sam Marcengill and Rev. M. Eugene Mullikin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Procter, 80, of Aiken, SC, died Sunday, morning, April 3, 2005 at Carriage Hills Plantation Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Aiken, SC.
Born in Cherokee County, SC, a son of the late Roy and Viola Farr Proctor, Art graduated with honors from Wofford College. A veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, he proudly served his country in the United States Army where he obtained the rank of Captain. He retired from the Atomic Energy Commission in 1980 after twenty-five years of service. An avid golfer, Art was a member of Houndslake Country Club, and enjoyed working in his yard, walking and coaching baseball.
He is survived his wife of fifty-six years, Sarah Fowler Procter, daughter, Pamela ?Pam? Oates, Aiken, SC; son, Arthur M. ?Artie? Procter, Jr., Aiken, SC; sisters, Katie Lee Procter Williams, Hilton Head Island, SC, Daisy Proctor Little, Jonesville, SC, Annie Bell Procter Carpenter, Asheville, NC, and Wilhelmina Procter Littlejohn, Jonesville, SC; brother, Clifford Procter, Union, SC; and many nieces and nephews.
