Mr. Sullivan, 85, of Aiken, died Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Heartland Hospice House, Augusta, GA.
Born in Boston, MA, he was the only son of the late John H. and Eleanor O'Toole Sullivan. Jack served in the US Air Force for twenty three years and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1970 from Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts. His dedicated service to his country spanned World War II, Korea and Vietnam and his flying experience as a navigator ranged from the World War II B-17 to the venerable B-52.
Before moving to Aiken in 1998, he and his wife lived in Hilton Head Island, SC. A communicant of Saint Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council at Notre Dame University. Jack was an avid tennis player and skier, a boating enthusiast, and was known to enjoy a good game of golf. He will be remembered by friends and family for his love of life, quick wit and passion for his country -- and Notre Dame football.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jinny, he was pre-deceased by a sister, Eleanor Carter. He is survived by two sons and their wives, Kevin and June Sullivan, Washington, DC and Keith and Louise Sullivan, Woodstock, VA, and his daughter and her husband, Kimberly and Scott Reed, Bedford, NH. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
