AIKEN, SC - Helen Dodson Hance, age 88, beloved wife of the late Edward H. Hance IV, entered into rest Friday, June 3, 2016. Helen was born in Washington, D.C. on June 12, 1927 to the late James E. Dodson and the late Ruth K. Wilbur. She was of the Catholic faith and had been a resident of Aiken, SC since 2011. Helen loved to garden and also enjoyed being with her family and friends, spending time by the water, playing golf, and traveling. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law; Ret. Col. Edward H. Hance V (Valerie), of Tampa, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen H. Taylor (Bill), Aiken, SC; six grandchildren, Courtney McClary, Jennifer Krieger, Lindsay Kenyon, Edward H. Hance VI, Cody Taylor, and Colleen Taylor; five great grandchildren, Christopher Hance, Joey McClary, Alexandra Krieger, David Krieger, and Ava Kenyon; two sisters, Jane Potter (Don) and Mary Jane Kline (Jon); and a brother, William Britton. A private graveside burial service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
