Obituary of Dean Edmund Nusbaum

Please share a memory of Dean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dean Edmund Nusbaum, 87, of Aiken, SC passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2024.

Born in Taneytown, MD, Dean was the son of the late Edmund Jesse Nusbaum and Helen Dutterer Nusbaum. Dean began his career working in the Nusbaum family canning business, became a Corporate Controller and was finally a small business owner prior to retiring to Aiken, SC.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dean enjoyed spectator sports—particularly baseball—and later grew passionate for the game of golf. He was an active member at Cedar Creek Golf Club and often played in CSRA Seniors events.  His love of golf forged numerous enduring friendships and created many family memories over the years.

He is lovingly remembered and survived by his three sons: Kevin (Brenda) Nusbaum of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Kendal Nusbaum of Rockville, MD, and Karry (Anne) Nusbaum of Elkton, MD. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren: Sara, Jesse, Dean, Annie, and Karry; and 2 great-grandchildren: Oliver and Sophie.

Dean was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 68 years, Thelma Nusbaum, who passed away on October 8, 2014.

Those who wish to pay their respects and celebrate Dean's life are invited to a visitation at The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803) 649-6234. The visitation will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

Dean will be interred next to his wife in Grace United Church of Christ Cemetery, 49 West Baltimore Street Taneytown, MD 21787 on Monday November 25 at 11:00 am.
