Obituary of Douglas Foster McCluskey
Douglas Foster McCluskey peacefully departed this world on Friday, November 15, 2024, just a week shy of his 82nd birthday. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, on November 22, 1942, Douglas lived a fulfilling and exemplary life doing what the Lord guided him to do. His devotion extended to his family, his community, and his country.
Douglas, a graduate of the University of South Carolina, pursued a vocation in education with unwavering dedication. Over his 30-year career, he wore many hats as a teacher, curriculum coordinator, principal, and respected administrator. His commitment to the growth and development of his students left a lasting legacy in the lives of many.
Before his career in education, Douglas served his nation with pride as a member of the U.S. Air Force, embodying the principles of service and dedication that he carried into every facet of his life.
Douglas leaves behind his beloved wife, Faye Andrea Wood McCluskey, with whom he shared many remarkable years. He was the cherished father of his daughter Tanja Bolt and son Christopher Douglas McCluskey, along with his loving daughter-in-law Paige McCluskey. His memory will be treasured by his adored grandchildren, T.C. Bolt, Caroline Cothran. Douglas is survived by his brother Boyd McCluskey, and sisters Barbara Luther, Linda Costello, and Sandra Dozier, along with his brother-in-law Larry Wood. In their hearts, his love and influence continue to resonate.
He joins in eternal rest his parents, Foster Gamble McCluskey and Elon Lavaunigh McCluskey, along with his grandson Dylan Bolt, and brother Tim McCluskey, who predeceased him.
Friends are invited to celebrate Douglas's life at a visitation held at The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Bethany Cemetery, Aiken, SC, officiated by Rev. David Harper.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Douglas's memory may be made to the South Aiken Baptist Church, 980 Dougherty Road, Aiken, South Carolina 29803..
