Obituary of Larry Wayne Herron

Larry Wayne Herron, a lifelong resident of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14th, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on Wednesday, June 3rd, 1953, in Aiken, South Carolina, Larry was a cherished member of the community and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He loved music, played guitars, and was an avid movie collector. 

Larry was the beloved son of the late Elbert R. Herron and Evelyn J. Herron. He is preceded in death by his brother, Riley E. Herron, brother-in-law, Tom Flynn, nephew, Michael Word, and nieces, Michelle Cooper and Jade Herron. 

Larry is survived by his devoted brothers, Elvin Herron and Alvin (Wanda) Herron, both of whom reside in Aiken. He also leaves behind two loving sisters, Margaret (Michael) Garrett of Trenton, Shirley (Larry) Merideth of Aiken, and Jeanette Flynn of Newnan, Georgia. Larry was a proud uncle to Christopher Herron, Aiken, Scott (Wendy) Herron, Gilbert, Riley (Robin) Herron, Nicole (Vencent) Stukes, Aiken, Angelia Cooper Word, Newnan, and Pamela Poston Herron, Aiken, six great nephews, and three great nieces, who will remember him for his warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit.

Though Larry lived his life with physical challenges, he never allowed them to define him. He was a testament to perseverance and resilience, inspiring family and friends with his courage and grace.

Memorial services for Larry will be held at Bethel Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m., October 19, 2024.
