Obituary of Gary Charles Nimmons

NEW ELLENTON, SC – Gary Charles Nimmons, age 73, passed away July 12, 2024.

Gary was born June 30, 1951, to the late Albert David Nimmons and the late Helen Wright Nimmons. He was a resident of the area for over forty years. Gary was passionate about anything to do with antique cars from car shows, driving, to fixing them. He loved to crack jokes and tell entertaining stories. He enjoyed spending time at the lake and camping. Gary always helped people and had a heart of gold. His biggest passion was for his family, his dog Chewie, and especially his grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jane Medlin.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Janet K. Nimmons; five daughters, Amanda Lyles (Todd), Lindy Long, Shannon Mathis (Bryan), Raven Peeples, and Amanda Nimmons (Ricky Burkhalter; son, TJ Williams (Ryan); sixteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sister, Emily Rooks (Tim); brother, David Albert Nimmons, and a brother-in-law, Irvin Medlin.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., July 16, 2024, at Jackson Bible Church, 102 McElmurray Farm Rd, Jackson, SC, 29831, with Pastor Isaac Cantrell officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization that Gary was proud to support.
