Obituary of Beth Elaine Wallick
Beth Elaine Wallick, 78, was called home by our Lord on July 13, 2024, wrapped in the love of family at her Columbia residence, with her husband of 57 years, Michael Wayne Wallick, beside her. She was born to Valeria (Sponseller) and William Thomas in Van Wert, Ohio, and was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Alexander; Ann's husband, Tom; and the Alexanders' daughter, Lori Dasher, all in Van Wert, OH.
Beth spent her youth in Van Wert and was a life-long avid book reader, a collector of Santa Claus figures, and had a love for horses. She and Mike dated all through high school, and after their Van Wert wedding, they headed south to the University of Tennessee, where she attended classes. Beth completed with honors her bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of South Carolina-Aiken and then worked for 12 years at the Aiken Department of Youth Services, where she found her passion. She enjoyed Kenny Rogers' music, mountain hiking, and reading self-help books.
With a heart for helping others, Beth served St. Paul Lutheran Church's Stephen Ministry and was a founding member of St. Paul's prayer shawl ministry. "Mom Beth" passed on traditions like family Christmas cookie baking, excelled at knitting, and was a talented tennis player. She will be most fondly remembered for her loving soul, her celebration of Christmas, and the warmth and "magic" of the Aiken family farm, especially by her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Michael, of Columbia, SC; their sons, Daniel Wallick (Susan) of Columbia, SC, and Clint Wallick (Mary) of Jackson, SC; their daughters, Ashley Wallick and her beloved Kevin Smith of Aiken, SC, and Apryl Wallick (Juston Self) of Colorado Springs, CO; grandsons, Jake Wallick of Weehawken, NJ, Zach Wallick (Hannah) of Irmo, SC, Samuel Wallick of Columbia, SC, Seth Beard of Aiken, SC, and Clay and Axl Self; great-granddaughters, Maeve and Riley Wallick; and Beth's sister, Paula Ferrell of Cocoa Beach, FL.
The visitation will be at George Funeral Home, 211 Park Avenue SW, Aiken, SC, on Friday, July 19, from 6 - 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 961 Trail Ridge Road, Aiken, SC, and the interment will follow at St. Paul Columbarium, with a reception after in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, offerings may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church's Stephen Ministry.
