I just learned of Roger’s passing.. Roger hired me as a project engineer to work on the GMAD project in Baltimore in 1981. In 1988, he brought me to Raleigh as a project manager for the Glaxo R &D project. He was my mentor and taught me everything I know about constructing buildings..

I met Roger when he first volunteered for Aiken County Habitat for Humanity. He was always willing to go the extra mile when working on these homes. We ended up helping each other on many projects outside of habitat and became good friends. He was truly one of the good ones and was not only a friend but a mentor with good advice. I will miss all those good times, advice, and conversations. What a guy!

Roger will definitely be missed on Holley Ridge. He taught me so much while working on Habitat for Humanity houses. Roger was an avid volunteer and mentor for many.

I first got to know Roger at "the gym" when I was rehabbing from one or another of my operations. We seemed frequently to be on the same schedule and often ran into each other on the exercise bikes. He was always friendly and encouraging and I enjoyed our sessions together.
Eventually he and wife Judy decided to downsize, sold their home (as it turns out to other friends of ours), and moved into a home just down the street from us. So I was able to get to know Judy, and to know Roger better, and my wife got to know them both. I got closer to Roger during my short tenure in Aiken's 50+ Club, where we often had lunch together and occasionally shared rides downtown. Roger and Judy could always be counted on to support and participate in the activities planned on our friendly street.
Roger was always friendly, pleasant, and easy to talk to. He will be missed by his friends, and our Holley Ridge neighborhood won't be the same without him.

I knew Roger from his involvement with Habitat for Humanity. Roger always had a pleasant greeting and an easy smile as he provided leadership, when necessary, in the building of the homes. I will miss him.

Roger had a kind heart, a warm smile, a hearty laugh and endless energy to serve. He was a joy to work with on Habitat-For-Humanity homes. Roger and I laid out the walls together on dozens and dozens of houses and, whilst he made errors in his layout, he didn’t get defensive or argue about the layout but gave a hearty laugh and moved onward. Roger helped create homes for more than 100 families in Aiken County and built nice memories with 100s of co-workers. Gonna miss you good buddy. Tom Thome
