Obituary of Delores Mae Sankey

Delores Mae Sankey, beloved resident of New Ellenton, SC, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, at the age of 94. 

Born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on Friday, September 13th, 1929, Delores was the daughter of the late George and Blanche Lockhart Welsch, Sr.  She dedicated her life as a loving housewife and caretaker to her family. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and for many years was a member of the sanctuary choir. 

Delores is survived by two grandsons, Harry R. Sankey III (Dawn) of New Ellenton, SC and Robert Sankey (Stephanie) of Augusta, GA, as well as four great-grandchildren, Abbigail Douglas, Nichole Toole, Amiah Fletcher, and Robert F. Sankey. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sankey was preceded in death by her husband, Harry R. Sankey, Sr., her son, Harry R. Sankey, Jr., her sister Ann Kummerow and 2 brothers Richard and George Welsch.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 10:00am in the sanctuary of Bethlehem Lutheran Church with the Rev. John. B. Engwall officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens, 1523 Edgefield Hwy, Aiken, SC 29801.
