Obituary of Caren Marie Mahony Daugherty

Caren Marie Daugherty, 77, beloved wife of Brent Alan Daugherty, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024, while vacationing with her husband in their cherished vacation spot on Webb Lake in Weld, Maine.
Caren was born on July 17th, 1946, in Belmont, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Richard Coleman & Carol Harrington Mahony. Caren and her family moved to Aiken in 1980 and she held numerous positions in retail sales and real-estate, but her true love was working with children as a teacher's assistant at Aiken Elementary & Schofield Middle School. She was a dedicated parishioner at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken and for years, was an active member of the Women's Club at the church having served at one point as its President. She was deeply involved in church activities, including running the youth program with her husband in the 1980’s. She also worked in the Saint Vincent DePaul food pantry. In addition, Caren was a devoted adorer at St. Claire Chapel for over 25 years since its inception. Caren was a committed member of the Right to Life Movement participating annually in the March to the State House.
Caren is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Brent Alan Daugherty, along with her children Jennifer & Chad Fink and Brian Carl & Amy Daugherty. She was a proud grandmother to William Randall "Randy" Daugherty, Liam Grayson Daugherty, Jesse Logan Fink, Connor Roy Daugherty, and Cameron Lee Daugherty. Caren is also survived by 4 sisters, Cathy Martin of Newtown PA , Sally (Paul) Eschallier of Yardley, PA , Mary (Paul) Zingarini & Carol Ann Witt all of Lambertville, 3 brothers, Richard (Jill) Mahony of Washingtons Crossing, PA, David (Dorothy) Mahony of Yardley, PA and Jimmy (Janet) Mahony of Scituate, MA.
In addition to her parents, Caren was preceded in death by her oldest son, Shawn Patrick Daugherty.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 11:00am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 125 Park St. SE, Aiken, SC 29801 with The Very Rev. Father Richard Wilson as celebrant. Final rites and commendations will follow in Southlawn Cemetery & Mausoleum, 4524 Whiskey Road, Aiken, SC 29803.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 1, 2024, from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803) 649-6234. A prayer service will take place at 6:15pm on Monday, July 1 in the George Funeral Home Historic Downtown Chapel.

In Caren’s own words: I think on all I have loved and lost and all whom have loved me being me, I am humbled. All is good with my soul, all is amazingly good with my soul. Thank God, Thank God.
