Obituary of Kathleen S Pilz
Kathleen "Kathy" Pilz, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on her 74th birthday, Saturday, June 15th, 2024, at her residence in Aiken at the age of 74. She was born in Aiken, SC, to the late Earl Purvis and Bertha Erlene Bentley Seigler.
Kathleen was a retired supervisor with SRS, where she dedicated many years of service. She was a loving and caring individual who cherished spending time with her family and friends. Kathleen will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and lively spirit. Kathy would adopt anyone who needed help. She instilled love in those who oftentimes could not find love from others. She would give generously to the helping hands of Aiken wanting to ensure as many people as possible would have every opportunity at life. She had a love of cooking and always made sure there was not only enough food but an abundance of food for anyone who may show up.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bert A. (B.J.) & Theresa Redd Pilz, Jr. of Aiken; her daughter, Candace Pilz of Lexington; her four granddaughters, Brittany Pilz of Charlotte, NC; Lexi Pilz of Aiken, Payton Pilz of Aiken, and Jordan Pilz of North Augusta; her twin sister born 13 minutes prior to Kathy, Rose Seigler Lockhart of Aiken; her sisters, Rebecca Seigler Gell (John) Workentine of Charlotte, NC , Susie Seigler Hallman of Aiken and Eudene Chappell Rossi of Aiken; her brothers, Herman Seigler of Aiken and Lester Seigler of Aiken.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Bert A. Pilz, her daughter-in-law, Mel McClain; her sisters, Vickie Seigler Reynolds and Sara Seigler Blackmon; her brother, Allen Seigler, and her "adopted son", Mike Seigler.
A funeral service will be held at The Historic George Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803) 649-6234 on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, at 3:00pm, officiated by Rev. Timothy Brown.
The family will receive friends from 1:30pm until 2:45pm on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Helping Hands of Aiken, 100 John Elliott Lane, Aiken, SC 29801. The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Aiken has charge of arrangements. An online guestbook is available at www.georgefuneralhomes.com where memories may be shared.
Kathleen will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace.
