Obituary of Gisela Sirrenberg
Gisela Sirrenberg passed away Tuesday morning peacefully in her sleep after suffering a stroke. Her sisters and friends were by her side, on May 14 Gisela would have been 80.
Gisela was born and raised in Germany, in a family of 5 children , she became an airline stewardess, traveled the world many times, loved to travel, always talked about traveling, but had found her permanent home in Aiken.
Before coming to Aiken, Gisela lived and worked in Upstate NY, she was a very hard worker in all her endeavors, having a German Restaurant, a Bed and Breakfast or selling Cars and later furniture. She and her deceased husband Walter, who trained driving horses , moved to Aiken around 2004/05; Walter drove 4-in-Hands for Katydid Farm and Gisela started on her creative journey, a new adventure in her life, first she designed jewelry - exquisite, exotic pieces of art, which were sold at art shows or later at the Center for the Arts, where she also worked part time. Her latest success came with acrylic paintings, made of acrylic and resin pouring - Gisela was self taught. She was a teacher at the Art Center after perfecting the different techniques needed for acrylic or resin pouring. She had an extraordinary sense for colors and color combinations. Her creativity had no limit.
Gisela spoke several languages, had a good sense of humor, was a good friend to many, a great cook and hostess, she will be missed by her family, friends, students and customers.
Rest in Peace, Gisela - we love you.
Gisela's Celebration of Life will be April 12th, Friday from 4 to 6:30 at Aiken Center for the Arts , Lauren's Street , downtown Aiken , please join us!
