We had the good fortune to meet Steve and Paulette’s son, Seth, on an airplane flight on a visit to South Carolina many years ago. We were graciously invited to their home for dinner and a most cherished friendship began. What a blessing to have these wonderful people in our lives. We will certainly miss Steve’s presence immensely, but his warmth, wit and integrity will always be in our memory! With love and admiration, Jackie Singer and John Pope

Dear Paulette and family, We wish to extend to you our deepest sympathies. We are keeping you in our prayers.
Steve was the epitome of a Christian. Christ was reflected in every facet of his life. For many, many years Steve was dealing with some very severe medical issue and very often in extreme pain. Despite this, he never complained, never faltered and was always willing to help others. I was very often in awe at he things he was able to accomplish while dealing with his health issues. An example of a devoted Christian and family man,
It has been an honor to know Steve and his family, and to call him friend. I truly believe that Steve had accomplished the tasks God had for him on this earth, and decided that it was time for him to rest. Rest peacefully, my friend.

Steve and I first became friends as colleagues at NUS in Aiken, South Carolina over 30 years ago. He (and Paulette) significantly influenced my life in three ways. The first lesson was one of commitment. Steve and I were scheduled to co-present at a professional society meeting. As a young consultant, I was extremely nervous about public speaking but having Steve as a co-lead was reassuring. He was asked to do or go somewhere else on the night of our scheduled presentation but he turned it down because he said he had made a commitment to me first. This left a huge impression on me to the point where I passed the importance of keeping your word to my children.
The second lesson was one of faith. I accepted Christ at 40 and three weeks later was laid off from NUS. Not fair, I thought, I am a new believer and this kind of thing is not supposed to happen! Steve left a note on my office chair that said that God knew the layoff was coming and wanted me to have the strength and reassurance of faith when it happened.
The third lesson was one of health and here Paulette played a key role. Through classes, food demonstrations, and great meals, I learned how to remove meat from my diet which I continue to this day. I had had no idea of the wonderful vegetarian. options available.
Dear Paulette and family, I grieve with you at the loss of this exceptional man. He had a big influence on my life and I will always be grateful for the time our lives crossed paths.

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant. . ." Matthew 25:21 We have been blessed to be close to Steve, Paulette and their family for around 40 years. First, and foremost, Steve was a man of God. He was a spiritual leader. He was not only very intelligent, but had a wealth of common sense. He was a humble man and did not like attention drawn to himself. He was serious about his family, friends and service to God, yet those who knew him best will tell you he had a great sense of humor. The North Augusta Seventh-day Adventist Church building screams out his name, for he was behind every renovation that took place either doing the work himself or overseeing it. Our families enjoyed many camping trips together in the North Georgia Mountains. The love and character that Steve & Paulette instilled in their family has been quite evident during his illness. Steven, and his family (Carson, Evan & Gabrielle), Daniel (Emma), Seth and his precious little ones (Tristan & Zoriana) have rallied closely around him. Their daughter-in-laws, Vicki & Olya have also been a tremendous help and blessing. They have all helped with any and everything, including yard work. Steve is resting now and awaits the Second Coming of Jesus. "In my Father's house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself that where I am, there ye may b e also." John 14:1-3
