Obituary of Megan Renee Helmig

Please share a memory of Megan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Megan Renee Helmig, entered into rest on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the age of 38. Megan was born in Parkersburg, WV, and resided in Aiken, SC. Her departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her. She was a reliable confidante and a steady presence in the lives of those around her.

Megan is survived by her loving husband, Milo Helmig, and her dear sister, Stacy Sims (Daryl Dicks and his son Daylen Ishamel Dicks),  and godson, Jamie Mabli. She is survived by her mother, Nancy Sims. In-laws who held a special place in Megan's heart include Jim and Debby (Helmig) Burgard, Nick and Tabatha (Helmig) Amodio, and Joe and Angie Burgard. Megan's connection with her family brought her immense joy, and their shared memories will continue to be a source of comfort in the days ahead. Megan was also a pet parent to her beloved dogs, Shila and Carly, and her cat, Lily.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Sims. The love they shared and the memories they created together continue to resonate in the hearts of those who love them.

Megan graduated from the University of South Carolina Aiken with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Megan's vibrant spirit was not only defined by her love for family but also by her passion for life. She had an avid interest in true crime TV, where her curious mind found fascination in unraveling mysteries.

One of Megan's greatest joys was spending quality time at the beach, and Hilton Head, SC, held a special place in her heart. The sun, the sand, and the calming waves brought her a sense of peace and happiness that she shared with those she loved.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024, at George Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. in The George Funeral Chapel. Pastor Mark Canipe will officiate.

The family appreciates the support and condolences during this difficult time. May Megan's soul rest in eternal peace, and may the memories shared bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.

The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803.649.6234), has charge of arrangements.
