Obituary of Bessie Hankinson Permenter

Mrs. Bessie Hankinson Permenter, 98, of Lexington SC passed away peacefully during the early morning hours of January 16, 2024, at the Agape House of Lexington following an extended illness.

Mrs. Permenter was born on October 28, 1925, in Aiken, SC a daughter of the late Paul McCreary Hankinson, Jr.  & Pearle Price Hankinson.  Mrs. Permenter retired as a secretary with the Department of Consumer Affairs. She was a beloved mother and grandmother.

She is survived by a daughter, Bessie Carolyn Hartman of Lexington; a son, Edward Ila Permenter, Jr., of Lexington and a granddaughter, Julianne Leigh McLendon of Prescott, AZ.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 2:00pm in Bethany Cemetery, corner of Hampton St. and Laurens St., Aiken, SC 29801 with Mr. Richard Spires officiating.
