William Wiley Blackwell, 88, beloved husband of Myrtle Jean Franklin Blackwell, slipped the surly bonds of this earth in the early morning hours of Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Piedmont Healthcare in Augusta, Ga. He is spending Christmas this year listening to the Christmas story being told by his Savior and Lord

Born in Aiken County, SC on August 22, 1935, he was the son of the late Cellus & Annie Mae Gunter Blackwell. Wiley was a retired Environmental Sciencience with Dupont Westinghouse at the SRS Plant after working for 40 years.  He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and former member of Millbrook Baptist Church. Wiley was a former Sunday School teacher having taught the senior boy’s class, was a member of the Youth Committee, an usher and member of the King’s Men Sunday School Class. He was a member of the SRS Retirement Association and the Cold War Patriot’s Association. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son, pawpaw and friend to all. The original crappie fisherman, lawn care specialist, Yahtzee champion, and creative lyric re-arranger to all music of the world. He was an avid gardener and loved landscaping his yard. He was an avid musician who loved playing the drums and guitar. He loved camping, fishing and was the “master tinker” who could fix anything. Most all however, he was a family man and cherished each and every moment he had with his wife, sons and especially his two grandchildren.

2 Timothy 4: 7-8:  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
