John Starkey, 77, beloved husband of Kathleen Ann Neumann Starkey, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, December 20, 2023, at Trinity on Laurens following an extended illness.

Mr. Starkey was born on February 22, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan a son of the late John & Annie McGregor Starkey.  He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Mr. Starkey was a proud United States Air Force Veteran. His passion was boating, and he loved any time that could be spent on the water. He also loved animals and never wanted an animal to be without a home.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister Catherine “Kay” Zych of Fort Myers, FL and two nephews, Walter Zych of Fort Myers, FL and John Zych of Harrison Township, MI.

Memorial Services will be conducted on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeff Erbskorn officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.

The family will receive friends immediately following the inurnment service in the family life center of the church.

Memorials may be made to the Friend of the Animal Shelter, 333 Wire Road, Aiken, SC 29801.

The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801 has charge of arrangements.
