GRANITEVILLE, SC – Lt. Commander Ted B. Bryant, US Coast Guard (Ret.). passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, at home, at the age of 85.

Ted was born April 8, 1938, in Vaucluse, SC to the late John H. Bryant and the late Bertha A. Bryant. He met the love of his life, Darlene Cook, on May 27, 1960, and they were married in St. Petersburg, FL on August 27, 1960. Ted served his country in the US Coast Guard, retiring after 20 years of service. Ted and Darlene moved back to Graniteville on May 17, 2014, to be closer to family. Ted enjoyed both golf and baseball. He lived with honor and dignity his whole life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Barry Bryant.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Darlene Bryant; a son, Errol Bryant (Monica), Graniteville, SC; three granddaughters, Mariah, Erica, and Alayna; and a brother, Don Byrant.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 22, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at George Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Albrecht SPCA or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
