Obituary of Tomaso Santomauro
Tomaso Antonio Santomauro, US Army (Ret.), passed away at home in San Antonio, TX on December 6, 2023, at the age of 58.
Born on July 10, 1965, in Bronx, NY, to the late Evelyn Santomauro, Tom and his mother moved to Aiken, SC when he was a baby. They lived in Aiken and Augusta, GA before moving to St. Petersburg, FL. Tom graduated from St. Petersburg Catholic High School and attended classes at Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL. In 1991, he moved to California with family where he joined the US Army Reserves and attended basic training at Fort Dix in New Jersey. In 1993, while living in Aiken, SC, he enlisted in the US Army, where he proudly served his country before retiring, with twenty-three years of service time, as a Sergeant First Class. During his time in the Army, he was stationed in Hawaii and Virginia, deployed overseas to Kuwait, Haiti, and other locations, received recognition and service awards, and he also met the love of his life - Janet Gamueda. After his retirement from the military, he and his family moved to San Antonio, TX.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Evelyn Santomauro, who he cherished dearly.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Janet Gamueda Santomauro; son Jhay Gamueda (Rose) US Air Force, Japan; two daughters, Carmen Santomauro and Regina Santomauro, both of San Antonio, TX; step-father, Harry Searfoss, St. Petersburg, FL; two sisters, Anastasia Searfoss, Seattle, WA, and Alexis Searfoss, St. Petersburg, FL; brother, Christopher Searfoss, St. Petersburg, FL; granddaughter, Arianna Gamueda; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, three dogs, and three cats.
A viewing and funeral service will be held at Castle Ridge Mortuary in San Antonio, TX on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 5 pm to 8 pm. There will be a funeral mass at Old Historic St. Mary's Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken, SC on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 11 am.
Memorial Service September 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., at George Funeral Home, Aiken, SC.
Interment, with military honors, will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m., September 12, 2024. Meeting location for procession to Arlington is 3671 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305 at 1:30 p.m.
