In the late 1980s, on a very cool fall morning, Nancy and I pulled my boat to Woodcreek Lake in Laurel County. As usual, we were filled with hope and excitement that this was the day we would catch some great fish. After several hours with not a fish to show for it, I backed the trailer down the ramp to load the boat and head back to Lexington. The water was cold so we were doing everything we could to avoid getting into it. In that effort, before I hooked the boat to the wench, Nancy let go of the rope and the boat was now floating free form out in the lake. After several expletive words, we both looked at each other and started laughing like crazy people. Reality set in and we realized one of us must swim out and bring it back...BURRRR!! But Fisher People stick together and two nice men on the lake saw our predicament. They towed my baby back and saved us from rock, paper, scissors and the cold water.
We laughed all the way home! Loved that girl!!
You will be missed and thanks for the memories, Nancy Irene!!
