Ms. Hewitt was so exuberant when I called to announce her winning the Hampton scholarship, our highest award. She was so excited for her future at Clemson and beyond. My first memory with Anna is catching salamanders in our wildlife biology lab, sloshing in a creek, covered in mud, laughing and loving every minute of it. When we met I couldn’t help but notice her kindness, passion, and creativity. Anna and I shared classes, thrift store visits, herpetology trips, and so many other countless moments throughout our time at Clemson. Her friendship changed my life, and I wouldn’t be the same person today without knowing her. I will forever hold my memories of Anna close to my heart. To Anna’s family I give my heartfelt condolences, and may her soul shine bright for eternity.

I was fortunate to spend a considerable amount of time with Anna in the field. She worked on several research projects with me, and she absolutely loved getting to see any and all wildlife! I always knew the day was going to be entertaining and full of fun, weird, and wildlife stories whenever Anna joined for an outing. I will do my best to share the photos that I have of Anna in her element. She will be remembered by those lucky enough to have met her.

Anna was my first role model on the soccer field. I had the privilege to play soccer with her at SMS for a short time and I remember thinking she was so good at the sport and she was such a composed player. She seemed to have this grace about her. In particular, I remember her having a radiant smile. Praying for Anna and her loved ones

Anna brought so much joy to the Bewick Lab. Her love for animals - all the animals... even the arthropods that she worked on in our lab - was obvious. She was such a warm, special person, and we will miss her immensely.
